Beesley, Gruwell win Race to the Taste 5K
FROM THE ST. AUGUSTINE RECORD
A total of 567 runners finished the inaugural Race to the Taste 5K on Saturday. The event was around the area of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre.
Trevor Beesley of St. Augustine was the overall winner, finishing the 3.1-mile course in 17 minutes, 4 seconds. Rounding out the top five men were: Chris Calkins (17:33), Jason Arnold (18:16), David Beck (18:27) and Chris Gruwell (18:47). All of the finishers besides Gruwell were from St. Augustine.
On the women's side, Joni Gruwell of Jacksonville won with a time of 19:37. Alexa Gemma followed with a 20:52. Jen Lambert (21:21), Elfreida Wyner (23:02) and Lori Brownell (23:39) rounded out the top five.
The event finished at the Taste of St. Augustine festival.

Runners will enjoy free admission for 2 to A Taste of St. Augustine and the exclusive Runners Village! Relax after the race and enjoy live music on the Amphitheatre stage all evening. As part of the Taste, enjoy 30 local restaurant's signature dishes with the purchase of $1 “Taste Tickets” (available at the event).
Live bands and race announcers will be on hand to add to the excitement!
A Taste of St. Augustine is open from noon - 8 pm. Runners can come by before they race as well as after they finish.

Run through the beautiful Anastasia State Park
The 3.1 mile course takes you on a scenic tour through Anastasia State Park. You will run on both road surfaces as well as cross-country through dune trails and enjoy the natural beauty surrounding you along the entire run. Walkers are also welcome to participate! Due to the uneven surfaces on the trails, jogging strollers are not recommended for this race.
